Volunteers of the Quarter
Sonia Martinez
Sonia is clearly worthy of recognition not only for her long service as a SCORE mentor, but for her extensive work in community outreach. Sonia has been a SCORE Mentor for ten years. She also serves as the Executive Director of the Mohawk Valley Latino Association. She has generously developed and mentored Latino Women business owners in Central NY and serves as board member on several community non-profit organizations.
Marty Doto
We recognize with deep appreciation Marty’s leadership as Chapter Chair during the period of consolidation when formerly separate chapters in Syracuse, Binghamton, Utica, and Auburn, were combined to form the Central NY Chapter. The outcome is a well performing team, and his efforts serve as a fine leadership model for our chapter and others facing organizational challenges.
PPP and EIDL Loans Hardship Relief Ending

Understanding and Complying with the Federal Corporate Transparency Act
The Corporate Transparency Act (CTA), part of the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2021 and effective from January 1, 2024, introduces essential changes for U.S. small business owners.
The CTA mandates small business entities to report "beneficial owner" details to the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN), a bureau of the U.S. Department of the Treasury. Beneficial owners are individuals who own at least 25% of or exercise substantial control over the reporting business entity.
We believe that anyone can start and manage a successful small business. We also know that the road is harder for some than for others. Diverse backgrounds, different voices and unique needs may call for specialized resources and mentoring approaches. SCORE is listening, recognizes these diverse needs, and provides personalized support in a wholly-inclusive platform called SCORE for All.
Since 1964, SCORE has educated and mentored more than 11 million small business owners and entrepreneurs. We're looking for people with diverse backgrounds and experiences to serve in a variety of roles — from knowledgeable business mentors to local community advocates.
